Security Sector Reform & DDR

”If people feel secure, there will be less interests to start the armed conflicts.”

Security Sector Reform (SSR) is the fundamental political and technical process for building sustainable peace. It is the process of creating a secure environment for men, women, boys and firls, where prosperity and democracy can grow and the rule of law is respected.

DDR stands for disarmament, demobilization and reintegration. The objective of the DDR process is to contribute to security and stability in the post-conflict environments so that recovery and development can begin.

In ongoing reform processes, civil society has a crucial mission to raise the voice of the people and their needs of security.
