Human rights are fundamental rights of people to which all are entitled as human beings. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in the history of human rights. It encourages all people and all nations to promote respect for these rights and freedoms and by progressive means secure their universal and effective recognition and observance.
Human rights violations occur when actions by state (or non-state) actors abuse, ignore, deny basic human rights or breaches any part of the UDHR treaty or other international human rights or humanitarian law.
